This hapless surfer was stranded in the sea for nearly 30 hours before finally being spotted and rescued by a British Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter.

The surfer, who went missing after he left to go surfing from Machrihanish beach near Campbeltown, was spotted some 13 miles off the coast.
