Voters in the United States say they favor Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders over Republican candidates in the 2016 bid for the US presidency, a Quinnipiac University poll revealed on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Moreover, poll respondents stated of the two Democratic presidential candidates — Sanders and Hillary Clinton — they favor Sanders by 19 percentage on addressing the needs and problems of the people.

"American voters back Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont over Republican candidates by margins of 4 to 10 percentage points in head to head presidential matchups," the poll read.

Sanders’ closest contender in the Republican field is Ohio Governor John Kasich, who trails by 4 percentage points.
